Mountaineering
Uttarkashi acts as a catalyst to many mountaineering expeditions, as it is the last major town en route to the greater Himalayas: It is no wonder that the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering- India’s premier mountaineering institution is located here. The Varunavrat mountain looms tall over this charming town, and flowing together of two rivers Varuna Ganga and the and Asi Ganga are a short distance upriver from this town.
Trekking
Normally elude as a trekker’s heaven, Harsil brags of the loveliest treks in the area. Treks to Gaumukh and Sat Tal are some of the well-known ones here. The Holy River Ganges is the most hallowed watercourse in Hindu religion and its source at Gomukh at the Uttarkashi. The ice sheet over this river here measures around 30 kilometers in length.

Viswanath Temple
Viswanath Temple, devoted to Lord Shiva, is one of the most antique temples of India and one of the most frequent tourist places to visit in Uttarkashi. Nestle on the bank of Bhagirathi River and surrounded by snow-capped mountains, this temple houses a spectacular Shiva linga and attracts millions of devotees.
Maneri Dam
Built on the Bhagirathi River, Maneri is a tangible gravity dam and one of the good-looking places of sightseeing in Uttarkashi. The dam is bounded by lofty mountains and lush green alpine meadows, making it an totally charming place to relax and unwind. This place is famous for day trips and picnics.
Dodital Lake
Dodital Lake visit for reinvigoration and unwind are plenty, and Dodital Lake is certainly one of them. Perched at an elevation of 3024 meters, Dodital is a stunning freshwater lake in Uttarkashi. Locally called ‘Dhundital’ meaning Ganesh ka Tal, this lake has a religious connotation too.

Located up the hill, at 3048 m, this beautiful alpine meadow offers the amazing and jaw-dropping beauty of the nearby. People trek approximately 9 km from Barsu Village to reach this Dayara Bugyal and relax and revitalize amid nature.
Har ki Doon
If you are short listing Uttarkashi tourist places, it will be unfair if you do not keep Har ki Doon on the list. This is a stunning cradle wrought valley, which offers an amazing view of snow-capped Himalayan peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Ruinsara, and Black peak. Easy to get to through Govind National Park; Har Ki Doon is a paradise for trekkers and adventure loving souls.
